The coordinating groups operate across SIS to spread, promote and coordinate scientific research on themes that are important in Statistics. The coordinating groups ensure the pursuit of common objectives within the SIS and allow members to organize activities in line with their scientific interests.The coordinating groups are administratively part of the Society.
Within the Society there are a number of working groups set up to perform specific tasks and activities or to promote specific sectors of study.
In accordance with the Statute, the Scientific Committees are the main way in which members participate in the scientific activities of the SIS. The Board of Directors delegates these committees to consider and study specific scientific topics of particular importance.The Scientific Committees prepare detailed and comprehensive study programs and their results are communicated at special Workshops.
The Scientific Committees have a limited period of activity which is normally three years..
